The Belfast Met have announced that from September people wanting to do playwork can do it at Level 2 FOR FREE!!
The 5 day a week course will include up to 3 days in College and 2 days on a work placement in the playwork sector. Oh and did I mention that it was FREE!!!!! You will also be able to do a qualification in ICT, English and Maths, if you don’t have those qualifications already. By the way – these are FREE as well!!
So don’t waste any time. Get on the Belfast Met website and make an online application NOW!! We will be offering places on a first come first served basis – so don’t delay. And did I tell you – IT’S FREE!!!!
This is seriously good news for Playwork – a full time course offers those working with children a real alternative to childcare training. This is especially important as the new standards coming out this summer for Childcare recognise PLAYWORK as the qualification for working in an ‘Out of School’ setting
Can you offer a placement opportunity?
As part of the programme students will be placed in good playwork settings – so that could be your place!! If you are interested in helping someone to improve their playwork skills in a great playwork environment – then please do get in touch. We are very hopeful that this programme will not only give kids the best sort of play experience; and give workers quality training; but also raise the profile of playwork as the best approach for children. We need your help to do this so please – if you can support a student – drop me an email.
