Multi-Diciplinary Play (Play Shaper)

Play and Leisure is an important part of children and young people's lives and by encouraging it we can create healthier and happy communities. This requires a concerted effort by a range of professional people, parents, children and young people and all members of the community.

Play Shaper is a half day professional development programme which focuses on the policy and practice of supporting play and leisure opportunities for children and young people. With support from the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) PlayBoard have been delivering Play Shaper seminars across the province.

The seminars bring together a wide range of professional people who plan, design, build and manage our communities. They offer the opportunity to explore the importance of children and young people's play and leisure and the role that different professional groups have in encouraging it. This cross professional development programme has also enabled partnership working across local councils to create and maintain genuinely child-friendly space.
