PlayBoard offer a wide range of training programmes designed to support play provision for children and young people. Training can be offered as a stand alone programme or a part of a training programme. Each session can be tailored to meet each group needs.  These include:

Play Development:
Play Development Training
This course provides an opportunity for participants to look at play and playwork. During the session participants have an opportunity to reflect on play memories and review how the playwork principles can be incorporated into their daily work.  

The Role of the Playworker
Playwork is a highly skilled profession that enriches and enhances children’s play. Playworkers can help create secure atmospheres that welcome and encourage all children to play in different ways according to their age, ability, culture and circumstances. This is an opportunity to explore the role of the playworker and how to support children’s play in an after schools setting.

The Role of the Coordinator
This course is an opportunity to explore the role of the coordinator in a playwork setting. The role of the coordinator is multi faceted and can involve a wide variety of skills and knowledge. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their role and the support mechanisms that are required to support them and their staff in the role.

Programme Planning
This course provides an opportunity for playworkers to look at their setting and programme and reflect against the playwork principles. Through small group work participants share and expand on ideas for programme planning and how to cater for the different age groups.

Managing Behaviour - Promoting Positive Behaviour
This one day or two session course aims to support playworkers in exploring the issue of challenging behaviour. Throughout the course participants have an opportunity to:

Diversity in Play
Diversity in play is a new, exciting resource, developed and designed for anyone who works within the children and young people’s sector. It has been designed to provide workers with the opportuntity to:

Governance:
Business Planning
This training is designed to take you step by step through the process of making a business case for your project. The end result will be a business plan for your project that will provide vision and allow you to plan for contingencies and work towards sustainability.

Staff Appraisal
This training takes projects through induction, one-one support sessions, continuing professional development, annual appraisal and the exit interview process. Implementing an appraisal scheme will ensure staff feel valued and respected, resulting in a contented service for children and parents/carers.

Recruitment & Selection
All school age childcare settings recruit new staff from time to time. This training will take projects through the recruitment process, including establishing a selection panel, developing job description, person specification and contracts.

Policies & Procedures
This training identifies the why, who and how of the policy development process. The training will outline a range of additional policies and procedures, which exceed minimum requirement and assist with the implementation of best practice.

Financial Procedures
This training addresses all aspects of financial management and highlights recommended good practice procedures. This useful step by step training will assist providers implement robust financial systems and to review existing financial practice.

Model of effective practice:
Reclaiming PlaySpace – this is training which provides those working with school aged children an opportunity to explore outdoor play. This training is offered in an outdoor setting and enables participants to build their repertoire of games and activities. This session can also be delivered by the Reclaiming PlaySpace staff directly to children and young people as a way of modeling the training for staff within a setting.   

Play in Schools:
Positive Playgrounds – this training programme is a new and exciting programme which caters for schools. It encourages PlayGround supervisors and teachers to bring ‘play’ back into the school playground.
The programme is delivered over six sessions with a follow up evaluation and review.

Quality Assurance:
Pathways to Excellence, Quality Assurance Award – this quality award offers projects an opportunity to review their setting over a series of pathways which cover good practice, recruitment and selection, play provision, participation along with other areas.
