We know that play is the most important thing that children do. That means for those of us who work in afterschools we want to do what we do as best as we can! That’s reflected in No 6 of the Playwork Principles – “Playworkers will think about what they are doing and why and keep up to date with new ideas and knowledge.”

PlayBoard NI, in partnership with the Childcare Partnerships, is rolling out the Quality Programme with Afterschool Clubs in a number of Health Trust areas. This fully funded programme gives access to a PlayBoard Quality Officer for up to six visits between October and March.

These visits give you a chance to do the following:

  • Review your previous inspection report and help you work on any actions required

  • Look at the minimum standards and provide you with the advice and support you need to prepare for your next inspection

  • Offer support required in the review of policies

  • Look at your play offer and provide advice and training on play and playwork

  • Offer advice and support that can help you provide a quality service to children

We are currently planning delivery in the Western, Northern and Southern Trust areas. Groups are referred to PlayBoard through Social Services. To avail of this resource contact your social worker and indicate your interest in the programme, and why you feel you would benefit, as well as letting us know by emailing peter.mccartney@playboard.co.uk or frances.walsh@playboard.co.uk

This package is worth £2,000 so we ask that you are sure you can commit to six sessions between October and March, and any preparation required for those sessions.

This is an excellent opportunity and places are going quickly so get in touch.
