PlayBoard’s OUR Generation team celebrated the impact of our Spaces to Be programme with an action-packed event in Girdwood Community Hub on Friday 31 March.

OUR Generation, OUR Play, OUR Legacy showcased the achievements of the programme delivered in primary schools and childcare settings within the Urban Village Areas in Belfast and Derry/Londonderry over the past three years.

Through a play-based approach, the programme has supported children’s mental health and well-being, building resilience, and enabling them to better manage their emotions.

During the event we heard from the project participants themselves through a live Q and A and video testimonies, enjoyed some play activities, and were entertained by the popular Wilson and Guests.

Our thanks to those who contributed to the success of the event including Carol Scullion, OUR Generation Project Manager, Action Mental Health; Lynsey Stewart, Principal, Ligoniel Primary School and Nursery Unit; Catherine Forte, teacher, Saint Vincent de Paul Primary School; and Wilson Magwere & Guests.

OUR Generation is now recruiting four settings for delivery from Easter to summer term. If you work in a primary school, school age childcare setting, or community group with children aged 4-11, this is your opportunity to avail of our FREE parents and practitioner training and children’s play sessions.

Settings must be based in the Urban Village Areas in Belfast or Derry/Londonderry, or have children from those areas, or be receiving input from the Urban Villages Initiative.
