Women’s Aid Dundalk is seeking, compassionate and experienced Play Therapists to join their Child Support Services Team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people affected by domestic violence, within a supportive, trauma-informed organisation.
Working Arrangements
- Play therapy sessions can be delivered on Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday
- Time will include clinical delivery, administration and team meeting
The Role
- Deliver trauma-focused play therapy to children and young people
- Complete intake and assessments in collaboration with the Children & Youth Services Coordinator
- Maintain clear, accurate and clinical record keeping
- Work as part of a skilled, supportive multidisciplinary team
- Adhere to organisational policies and best practice standards
- Participate in team meetings, reflective practice and supervision
Essential Criteria
- Qualification and accreditation by Academy of Play & Child Psychotherapy or relevant academic qualification with APAC, IAPPC
- Minimum two years’ experience working as a Play Therapist
- Trauma focused experience required
- Knowledge of domestic violence and its impact on children and young people is desirable

- Assist with planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
- Assist the manager and deputy manager with planning programmes and activities.
- Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents or carers.
- Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
- Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
- Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
- Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures.
