We are currently seeking to fill up to three Voluntary Trustee positions. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who may also be interested in taking on the roles of Chair and Vice Chair of the Board.
PlayBoard NI is the leading organisation for the promotion, development and delivery of play in Northern Ireland. Our vision is a society where every child’s right to play is recognised, respected and realised.
For more than 40 years, we have championed the value of play through advocacy, research, workforce development, training and innovative programmes. Working with government, local authorities, schools, communities and families, we influence policy and practice to ensure children have greater opportunities to play and flourish.
We are seeking enthusiastic, committed and forward thinking individuals to join our voluntary Board of Trustees.
Whether you are an experienced Trustee or looking for your first Board role, this is an opportunity to use your skills, knowledge and experience to help shape the future of one of Northern Ireland’s leading children’s charities.
Who are we looking for?
We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives who share our commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
We particularly welcome applications from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Governance
- Finance
- HR
- Play delivery or development
- Minority ethnic issues
- Media and marketing
- Public sector
- Primary education
- Third Sector
- Childcare
- Youthwork
- Business development
- Special Educational Needs
We also welcome applications from professionals working in education, early years, youth work, healthcare, social work, psychology, community development and public policy.
Previous Trustee experience is welcomed but is not essential. We are equally keen to hear from first time Trustees who are committed to making a positive difference.
What will you do?
As a Trustee, you will:
- Help shape PlayBoard’s strategic direction and long term vision.
- Ensure strong governance and effective decision making.
- Monitor organisational performance and impact.
- Support sound financial stewardship and sustainability.
- Provide constructive challenge and independent oversight.
- Champion PlayBoard’s work and values.
- Contribute to Board committees or working groups where appropriate.

Time commitment
The Board meets approximately six times each year, with meetings held both online and in person.
Trustees are encouraged to participate in one Board committee and may occasionally contribute to strategic planning sessions or short-term projects.
This is a voluntary role.
